I would say, there’s no faster road to success than working with a team that gels together. I’m pondering this idea while I enjoy today’s sunshine from my patio. What makes a great club, team, group… you name it? Here’s what I think.
Positive attitudes
When you interact with members at club meetings with a positive attitude, it spreads. A positive attitude makes everyone feel comfortable. It sets the tone for the meeting and helps others approach tasks with enthusiasm and optimism. After all, no one enjoys working with negativity and push-back. Be positive.
Fresh ideas
Sharing ideas shows you have the betterment of the club in mind. You have an interest in, and care about, the club’s success. Share your ideas openly. You should never feel uncomfortable sharing your thoughts. As they say, if you’re thinking it, someone else is likely thinking the same.
Showing support
We all have unique skills and expertise that we’ve acquired over the years from personal and work experiences and schooling. As your club members work towards a common goal, leveraging your unique talent not only supports members but also presents a unique opportunity to develop and grow together.

Understanding the mission
A mission statement lets members know what you’re all about. It tells them what you’re doing for them now. When you’re part of a club — group or project team — understanding the mission, and how to deliver on it, is important. Members joined your club for similar reasons. Whether it’s to improve their skills, enhance their professionalism or deliver on a project, adhering to the mission makes the club experience a rewarding one for all members.
A clear structure
Understanding the structure of the group clarifies expectations. Knowing who’s leading or who your “go-to” people are, makes it easier to gain approvals and get answers to questions. A clear structure creates efficiencies that help get the job done!
How do you make sure your club experience is one you enjoy being part of? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
