I’ve come to the realization that I spend more time sitting at my computer than I should. As much as I’d like to admit that I can live without internet, it’s become a vital vein in my existence. It’s my source of communication with family and friends, a never-ending source of information and news updates and the epicentre for my small business.
So what’s the problem? I’m now on day two without it. I’ve been notified that this “service interruption” won’t be fixed for another day, or so I’m promised.

So, what can I do?
Amazingly, because this interruption disruption also included no television, I enjoyed a full night’s sleep. That set me up perfectly to organize my stockroom in the morning before heading out on a drive to one of my favourite greenhouses, coffee in hand. Now it’s too early to plant anything in Canada (if there were outdoor plants available), but the quiet wander through the indoor gallery and the gift shop filled my head with ideas for a later date.
So, what does a writer do when she can’t access the internet? Lucky for me, a book I’ve been writing sporadically is on my hard drive, so all is not lost. I journal the old fashion way with pen and paper, and I have data on my phone. It’s also a good time to finish reading a couple books I’ve put down for a very long time.
When I post this blog, it will be when the internet is back up. Fingers crossed that happens tomorrow. In the meantime, I may need to communicate face-to-face!
